Remember that lots of fun and free activities surround you and your area. Do a search on the Web for your city or area. Also make sure to sign up for promotional information on your city. This is where I find many great deals and it keeps me up to date on special activies and promotions that the city is sponsoring. Look at other small areas that surround your city for about fifty miles. That way you can get easy day trips or activities that you wouldn't normally think about.
Above all, remember to enjoy all the artisinal activities that make your area that you live in a great one. Just the other day I was watching one of those television shows and saw a local vendor who was new to the area and we went for a visit. They gave away free samples and it was fun to see the new machines up close for the kids. It was the Brown Butter cookie store up in Cayucous.
When grandma and grandpa come out for a visit, this will be a great place for us to visit for all of our senses. Better then going to the same old places over and over and it is something that I saw on the Food Network, otherwise I would not have known to check it out. Believe me, I have two happy girls because of it.
