Halloween is Almost Here

This is a fun time for the kids.  Be careful though, the small ones may think that they want to be scared, but it may then cause nightmares.  So go easy on the children. 
 
Also remember to have trade off's available if you allow them to go trick or treating.  For instance, trade one to one for stickers so that the candy does not become a problem.  Especially for children that are not used to eating all that junk food. 

Too, remember that a lot of the ER's offer free X-rays of the candy to make sure that it is safe. 

 

Summer Swimming

Summer is here and it is a great time to learn how to swim at your local community college swimming pool.  Most people do not realize that they offer swim lessons for infants to adults at a decent price.  So go check it out for a great inexpensive opportunity.

Getting Ready for the Holidays

As time marches by it again is that time of the year to start thinking about the holidays.  Make sure to start watching the ads for free or very cheap turkey and all the trimmings. 

 

My turkey cooking tip for you is to make sure to put plenty of water in the bottom of the pan as you cook the turkey and make sure to replenish it regularly.  This will help to ensure a moist turkey and will keep your drippings ready to go for the gravy.

4th of July Cheesecake, Yummy!

With July fourth coming soon, Monday, why not make a great desert of cheesecake fourth of July style.  Alternate, sliced strawberries, blueberries and fresh whipped cream in concentric circles.  You could start with a store bought cheesecake or make your own, yummy!

Holiday Sales & Cyclicle Shopping

If you are in need of basic items, right now and over the holiday weekend are often a great time to find some great deals!  Remember that most items go through a cycle of being at 'normal' price, then they are on sale.  If you want to make purchases, I suggest keeping a price diary and look once every three days or once a week at the price of the item.  Even flights operate in this way.  Some industries like the travel even have days of the week where you may notice cheaper prices. 
 
After keeping track of the prices, you will start to notice cycles with the various classes of products and brands.  If you are grocery shopping remember to double dip and use a coupon and the sale price when possible.  If you use these basic principles, you can save thousands of dollars a year very easily.
